| 10yr-old Dean Godfrey (Al Godfrey's grandson) and his "go-cart trainer", a Massey-Harris lawn tractor conversion. A pair of garden-variety Group 31 deep-cycle marine batteries run a 24V permanent magnet motor which drives the hydrostatic transmission. Running time is several hours or about 10km at about 3.5km/h. With the assistance of his transmission's "lock-up" capability, Dean out-pulled the visiting "Heavy-Metal Garden Tractor" when challenged to an impromptu tractor-pull by John Wayland! |
